CaD® - Hot metal desulfurization

CaD® is a powerful desulfurization agent based on fine calcium carbide (CaC2) powder. It is available in different grades, which consist of calcium carbide mixed with various supplements. As an example volatile coal powder increases both efficiency and reaction rate. Other additives can optimize slag properties and reduce iron losses.

CalciPro® - Cored wire based on Calcium Carbide

AlzChem introduced CalciPro®, a cored wire based on Calcium Carbide, in the market, which is used for Calcium treatment in secondary metallurgy. It converts alumina inclusions into calcium aluminates to prevent clogging with high efficiency and hence reliably improves castability. Moreover, it is an excellent solution to modify inclusions in order to enhance steel properties such as machinability.

CalciPro®, our cored wire based on Calcium Carbide, is well established in the European market. Now, also Russian steel producers show great interest in our product.
Application tests by one of Russia's leading steel producers were successful, further trials in yet additional Russian steel plants are currently scheduled.

CalciPro® is used for Calcium treatment of molten steel. It modifies nonmetallic inclusions to assure good castability and to optimize the mechanical properties of the final steel product.
