Sustainably Strong: Alzchem Celebrates Award from the Environmental and Climate Pact of Bavaria

Visitors from the district of Mühldorf and the city of Waldkraiburg: District Administrator Max Heimerl, Waldkraiburg Mayor Robert Pötzsch and business promoter Thomas Perzl presented the Environmental + Climate Pact of Bavaria certificate to Andreas Niedermaier, CEO of Alzchem.

District Administrator Max Heimerl: “I warmly congratulate Alzchem on this award and hope that many more companies will follow suit. Among other things, Alzchem is also an important partner for many companies in the region in the defense technology and automotive industries. Therefore, I am pleased that we can make an important contribution here in the district even in these times.”

Mayor Robert Pötzsch: “The award as part of the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact is proof of Alzchem's ongoing commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. I am very pleased that a company from our city is receiving such significant recognition and thus represents another example of our strong local companies.”

Andreas Niedermaier expressed his thanks and emphasized:

“The Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact is raising awareness of environmental protection goals. Through our responsibility for the environment, climate and living space, we are not only increasing the positive perception of our company. Our environmental protection measures in the areas of energy, resources, water and waste help us to save costs while increasing our attractiveness as an employer.”

About the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact

With the current environmental and climate pact, the Bavarian state government and its partners, the Bavarian Industry Association (vbw), the Bavarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BIHK) and the Bavarian Trade Association (BHT), are working to develop solutions for dealing with outstanding environmental and sustainability issues in order to promote environmental and climate protection in companies and businesses. The Environmental and Climate Pact is open to all Bavarian companies and businesses, regardless of size. The prerequisite for participation is, in addition to the legal requirement, practiced, operational environmental protection.

About sustainability at Alzchem

A high degree of transparency in all environmental matters is very important to Alzchem. That is why the company has been EMAS-certified (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, also known as the EU Eco-Audit) since 1997 and has been involved in the first Environmental Pact of Bavaria and its successor, the Environmental and Climate Pact of Bavaria, as a founding member since 1995. In addition, Alzchem joined the Responsible Care initiative in 2021, thereby committing itself to constantly improving the protection of health and the environment as well as the safety of employees and fellow citizens on its own responsibility.

Social responsibility also plays an important role in the company's supply chain. That is why it has undergone, among other things, an independent CSR rating by the globally active rating platform EcoVadis, from which it was awarded the platinum medal in 2024. The company's activities in the areas of the environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement were evaluated. This puts Alzchem in the top 1 percent of companies evaluated by EcoVadis worldwide.

All relevant topics and key figures in the area of environmental and climate protection, as well as other sustainability aspects, are documented in detail in our annual report. We invite you to consult it to get a detailed overview.
