Trostberg, July 4, 2025 – The company Alzchem has been awarded the Bavarian Environment and Climate Pact by the districts of Altötting and Traunstein for its outstanding environmental and climate protection measures.
District Administrator Erwin Schneider from Altötting and Ms. Alea Lang from the Environment Department presented the certificate to Andreas Niedermaier, CEO of Alzchem, at a ceremony.
District Administrator Erwin Schneider: “Alzchem has been committed to transparency and responsibility in environmental matters for decades and sets a real example in the region with its efforts. The company is keen to go beyond the requirements of environmental legislation and involves its employees in this process. Environmental management is truly ‘lived’ here and does not gather dust in the form of unread manuals in a cupboard.”
Andreas Niedermaier expressed his gratitude and emphasized: “Our commitment to environmental protection and sustainability is a central component of our corporate philosophy. Through innovative measures in the areas of energy, resources, water, and waste, we not only contribute to the preservation of our environment, but also increase the efficiency and attractiveness of our company.”

“With its long-standing and consistent commitment to environmental and climate protection, the Alzchem Group is taking responsibility—not only for its own company, but for the entire region. The award of the Bavarian Environment and Climate Pact is an expression of this sustainable corporate strategy. As the district of Traunstein, we are delighted to have such an exemplary company in our midst that combines ecological innovation with economic strength.”
About the Bavarian Environment and Climate Pact
With the current Environment and Climate Pact, the Bavarian State Government and its partners, the Bavarian Industry Association (vbw), the Bavarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BIHK) and the Bavarian Chamber of Crafts (BHT), are working to develop solutions for dealing with key environmental and sustainability issues in order to promote environmental and climate protection in companies and businesses. The Environment and Climate Pact is open to all Bavarian companies and businesses, regardless of their size. In addition to the legal requirements, participation is conditional on the company practicing environmental protection in its operations.
About sustainability at Alzchem
High transparency in all environmental matters is very important to Alzchem. That is why the company has been EMAS-certified (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, also known as the EU Eco-Audit) since 1997 and has been a founding member of the first Bavarian Environmental Pact and its successor, the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact, since 1995. Alzchem also joined the Responsible Care initiative in 2021, thereby committing itself to continuously improving the protection of health and the environment as well as the safety of employees and fellow citizens on its own responsibility.
Social responsibility also plays an important role in the company's supply chain. That is why it has undergone independent CSR rating by the global assessment platform EcoVadis, which awarded it the Platinum Medal in 2024. The company's activities in the areas of the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement were evaluated. This places Alzchem among the top 1 percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide. Alzchem has also set itself a new green milestone: climate neutrality by 2033.
