The history of Perlka® in rice begins around 1910 in northern Italy with the first experimental tests executed by the botanical garden of Turin in which the fertilizing efficacy of the product was clearly proved. Slow nitrogen supply with simultaneous lime effect, which counteracts soil acidification and sustainably maintains and improves soil fertility. The advantages of Perlka® in rice were subsequently confirmed by many scientific trials done since the mid 1930’s until today. Perlka® is now considered by most Italian rice farmers as the best nitrogen fertilizer capable of guaranteeing constant production on all types of soils including those characterized by poor fertility. It is currently used on about 15 – 20 % of the Italian rice area. The recent work of Dr. Marco Romani, Enterisi’s agronomy manager, has confirmed better performance of Perlka® in rice in comparison to other slow-release fertilizers.
Calcium cyanamide is a very special fertilizer. It not only supplies the soil with nitrogen and lime but it also offers a range of other unique special effects. Many farmers insist on calcium cyanamide or PERLKA® in order to prevent yield and quality losses during increasingly tight crop rotations, or to be able to manage them properly once again. Why? – because soil hygiene is more important than ever to ensure sustainable production.
