Alzchem opens its doors: Visit from the German Chemical Industry Employers' Association (BAVC)

Trostberg, September 16, 2025 – On August 29, 2025, the Alzchem Group invited the German Chemical Industry Employers' Association (BAVC) to learn more about the company and its diverse activities. As a leading collective bargaining and social policy association, the BAVC represents the interests of 1,700 companies with around 585,000 employees in the chemical, pharmaceutical, rubber, and plastics industries.

The visit began with the arrival in Unterneukirchen and a tour of the plant in Hart, followed by a trip to Trostberg. There, the guests were treated to a company presentation followed by a bus tour of the chemical park. The visit concluded with a light lunch.

The importance of dialogue and networking
As an innovative specialty chemicals supplier with deep roots in Bavaria, Alzchem is committed to open dialogue and close networking within the industry and beyond. As part of its cooperation with the association, Alzchem also emphasized the importance of joint initiatives for a sustainable industry:

“Together and in a team we are strong – especially in times of great challenges,” said Andreas Niedermaier, CEO of the Alzchem Group. “Personal exchange is crucial for learning from each other and developing innovative solutions together. We have plenty to discuss: reducing bureaucracy, energy, and transformation remain key issues if we want to strengthen Europe's competitiveness as an industrial location. The member associations and the umbrella organization are doing an important job of representing our interests.”

BAVC CEO Mathias Schöttke emphasized: "Given the difficult situation in our industry, dialogue with companies is essential. Our economy is under pressure: geopolitical uncertainties, high energy costs, a shortage of skilled workers, and increasing regulatory complexity are putting the industry under enormous stress. What we need now is a clear course of action—for greater competitiveness, greater innovation, and a strong social partnership."

Dr. Markus Born, Chief Executive Officer of the Chemical Employers' Association in Bavaria (VBCI), added: “Especially at Alzchem, one can see that energy-intensive basic chemistry is the starting point for many extremely important fine and specialty chemicals, and that these important products cannot be manufactured in Bavaria without energy-intensive precursors from Bavaria.”

Role of the chemical and pharmaceutical industry
The chemical and pharmaceutical industry is one of the pillars of the German economy: it is the European leader in terms of sales and production volume, strong in exports, and offers attractive jobs, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition, the industry is a key driver of innovation. The products of the Alzchem Group, for example, contribute significantly to improving people's quality of life and are of great importance to society. Their products are used in agriculture, where they contribute to the year-round availability of fruit and vegetables, in the food industry, where they improve the quality of products, and in medicine, where they support the development of new therapies and drugs.
