Political Dialogue at Alzchem: Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Prof. Dr. Angelika Niebler Visits – Focus on Competitiveness and Innovation

Trostberg, January 23, 2026 – On Friday evening, Alzchem Group welcomed MEP Prof. Dr. Angelika Niebler and around 40 guests for a political dialogue. Among the participants were Trostberg’s Mayor Karl Schleid, his deputy Dominic Geiger, as well as members of the local CSU association.

The discussion centered on industrial policy frameworks in Germany and Europe, sustainable development, and current challenges facing the chemical industry.

Guests were given an exclusive look at the new training center – a place where innovation and the future are within reach. The state-of-the-art facility provides hands-on training opportunities across various vocational fields and strengthens Alzchem Group’s long-term competitiveness. Equipped with modern laboratories, practical workshops, and an inspiring environment for young talent, the center sets a clear signal for the future.

Following the tour, Dr. Jürgen Sans, Chief Production Officer of Alzchem Group, warmly welcomed the visitors and offered insights into the company’s latest developments in a keynote presentation. The subsequent panel discussion with Prof. Dr. Angelika Niebler and Dr. Jürgen Sans sparked lively conversations about the opportunities and challenges for the chemical industry – . The evening concluded with an informal get-together over drinks and snacks.

“A constructive dialogue between industry and politics is essential to create reliable framework conditions for high-quality jobs, the innovative strength of SMEs, and the role of the chemical industry as a solution provider for sustainability and supply security,” emphasized Dr. Jürgen Sans. “Personal exchange gives us the opportunity to learn from each other and jointly develop new ideas. Reducing bureaucracy, energy policy, and transformation are key topics for Europe’s competitiveness. What we need is a clear course that preserves our competitiveness in the international context. “

Prof. Dr. Angelika Niebler, Member of the European Parliament, made it clear: "The European chemical industry is under severe pressure and there is a threat of structural erosion of our industrial foundation. What is needed now is rapid relief through a European industrial electricity price, the stringent elimination of excessive bureaucracy, a risk-based regulatory approach, and broadly diversified international sales markets. I will continue to advocate for this in the European Parliament. Chemistry is the industry of industries. Regional structures, such as Alzchem in Trostberg, must be preserved if Europe wants to remain competitive."

Dominic Geiger, 3rd Mayor of Trostberg, emphasized:
“It's really great what Alzchem has achieved here in Trostberg with the new training center. We are really proud to have something so future-oriented and modern at our own location. Good training is the foundation for our future – and here, it's happening at a level that is truly impressive. It is important to me that our companies know that we, as a town, are reliably at their side, because strong companies secure education, innovation, and jobs.”

The chemical industry is one of the pillars of the German economy: it is highly export-oriented and offers attractive jobs – particularly in the SME sector. Alzchem products contribute to quality of life in numerous applications: in agriculture (ensuring year-round availability of fruits and vegetables), in the food industry (for quality improvement), and in medicine (as building blocks for new therapies and pharmaceuticals). The new training center at the Trostberg site exemplifies Alzchem’s commitment to long-term workforce qualification and its culture of innovation.
