Introduction of Eminex^® in Italy

Alzchem is pleased to announce the successful introduction of the Eminex^® slurry additive in Italy. Eminex^® suppresses methane and CO2 emissions during slurry storage, thereby helping to reduce climate-damaging emissions.  

Farmers can now use a new tool for treating their cows' manure.  

The first applications of Eminex^® were carried out on six different farms in northern Italy, including two farms in Lombardy and four in Piedmont, Italy. These farmers were struggling with problems related to the physical properties of the manure spread on their corn and rice fields. The storage of slurry has long been a major challenge due to the formation of crusts and floating layers. 

Eminex^®, developed after years of scientific research, reduces greenhouse gas emissions from manure storage by up to 90%–100%, which means a significant reduction in the environmental impact associated with livestock farming. In addition, Eminex® reduces crusts and floating layers during the storage of slurry and provides a significant additional benefit for the user in addition to the environmental value. Besides the use under practial condtitions, the Italian farmers can clearly see the effect of Eminex^®  using the demonstration kit. The manure in the left container was untreated and the gas inflated the bag, while in the right container the manure was treated with Eminex^® and there is almost no gas in the bag.  

Lower gas emissions also mean a reduced floating layer formation in the manure and a lower storage volume requirement, which is a significant advantage for farmers. 

In addition, Eminex^® reduces nutrient losses and improves the fertilizing effect of the manure. Field trials have shown that slurry treated with Eminex^® has a higher nutrient value and activates soil life, resulting in higher crop yields.  

Eminex^® improves animal welfare and occupational safety on the farm by reducing foaming and odour nuisance.
