Business Support Group: €10,000 Donation to the Trostberg Food Bank

Trostberg. The Trostberg Business Support Group is supporting the Trostberg Food Bank with €10,000 to help ensure the continued operation of the charitable organization. During a visit by the Support Group, Ulrike Bergmann-Fritz, Head of the Food Bank, presented the food bank shop and provided information on the organization and day-to-day operations. The visit made it clear to the representatives how indispensable the commitment of local initiatives is for social cohesion in the town of Trostberg. Around 70 volunteers work for the Trostberg Food Bank, the Trostberg Children’s Food Bank, and the Pet Food Bank, providing support to approximately 430 eligible recipients from Trostberg and the communities in the northern district of Traunstein. Among food bank users are many families, including around 130 children in total. In view of rising energy and rental costs as well as declining donations for the food bank, the Support Group is making an important contribution to sustainably safeguarding this social institution, which has existed for 23 years and has been operated by Malteser Hilfsdienst Traunstein since 2016.

The Trostberg Food Bank provides a valuable service every day for people on low incomes—those in need who rely on support with food. For many affected individuals, the food bank is an indispensable part of the social safety net in Trostberg. “Food banks are more important than ever,” emphasizes Bergmann-Fritz. The need for support continues to rise, while the challenges facing the organization steadily increase. Especially in economically challenging times, it becomes clear how important reliable partners and long-term commitment are to ensure the food bank’s assistance in the future. The financial support provided by the Business Support Group makes a decisive contribution to enabling the food bank to continue its service for people in need, Bergmann-Fritz stressed. The food bank is financed exclusively through donations, sponsorships, or support contributions from Malteser, the operating organization. Next year, the food bank’s aging refrigerated van—used to collect donated food from shops and discount retailers—must be replaced. This and other investments that are vital to the food bank’s existence can only be realized through sponsors and generous donations such as that of the Support Group. Anyone who would like to support the Trostberg Food Bank can also do so by making a donation to the account of Malteser Hilfsdienst e. V., Trostberg Food Bank, IBAN: DE87 3706 0120 1201 2135 64.

The Trostberg Business Support Group includes Alzchem Group AG, Alztec, BASF Construction Additives GmbH, Master Builders Solutions Deutschland GmbH, the Town of Trostberg, EDEKA Südbayern, Hamburger‑Rieger Papierfabrik GmbH, Kreissparkasse Traunstein‑Trostberg, and Volksbank Raiffeisenbank eG. Together, the participating companies and institutions take responsibility for the region and support social and community projects in Trostberg.

“The Trostberg Business Support Group impressively demonstrates how much can be achieved when companies jointly take responsibility for their town,” emphasizes Andreas Niedermaier, CEO of Alzchem Group AG and Chair of the Support Group. “Especially facilities such as the Trostberg Food Bank make an important and invaluable contribution to social cohesion. Supporting this commitment is not only a matter of course for us, but also an expression of our deep ties to the region,” Niedermaier added.

A strong foundation for social cohesion
The Business Support Group sees itself as a platform that pools commitment and steps in wherever concrete support is needed. Companies, organizations, or initiatives from Trostberg that require funding or would like to implement social, cultural, or sports projects are invited to contact the Support Group. The aim is to assume responsibility together and further strengthen Trostberg as a livable town with strong social cohesion.
