The Creatine in Health, Sport and Medicine 2015 conference was held at the Kapuzinerhof in Laufen, Germany, from April 22-24. Around 80 participants from all corners of the globe met together over three and a half days to discuss creatine, exchange ideas and opinions, start up new projects and cooperations, and build on existing collaborations. Because of the manageable size of the event participants had the opportunity to talk in quite some detail with each other.

EFSA delivers a positive opinion on creatine for the improvement of muscle strength in the elderly

Following an application of AlzChem AG for authorization of a health claim for creatine the respective EFSA Panel (European Food Safety Authority) delivered a positive opinion on the effect of creatine: “Daily creatine consumption can enhance the effect of resistance training on muscle strength in adults over the age of 55”. The daily intake should be at least 3 g creatine and should be combined with regular resistance training of moderate intensity.

FDA approves guanidinoacetic acid for broiler chickens and turkeys

Based on comprehensive scientific evidence, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center of Veterinary Medicine, approved the safe use of guanidinoacetic acid (GAA) as a food additive that spares arginine and serves as a precursor of creatine in broiler chicken and turkey feed in October 2016.
