Product Group: Guanidine Salts

Based on the raw material dicyandiamide, also manufactured by AlzChem, a range of guanidine salts are also produced. These are often used as NCN building blocks for the synthesis of Pyrimidines, and other intermediates which are indispensable in the production of agro-chemicals and pharmaceutical active ingredients, for instance.

Guanidine nitrate and nitroguanidine (which is manufactured from guanidine nitrate by our sister company Nigu GmbH) are used as gas generators in airbags.

Guanidine hydrochloride is used in a purified form for isolation and column cleaning during the production of monoclonal antibodies or recombinant proteins. Alongside the technical-grade quality produced by AlzChem, highly purified biotec grades are also on offer, produced by the company Nigu GmbH (www.nigu.de).
There are further applications for guanidine hydrochloride in electroplating and in textile treatment.

Guanidine thiocyanate is also offered by Nigu as support material for the isolation of nucleic acids and for RNA/DNA (clinical) diagnostics.

Guanidine phosphate and guanidine sulfamate are used as additives and flame retardants in, for example, the production of laminates (e. g. kitchen work-surfaces).
