Press Release - AlzChem and BASF pleased with the positive response to the ChemDelta Bavaria exhibition

With over 300 visitors, the ChemDelta Bavaria exhibition, which is running under the title “Bavarian Chemicals Triangle – dynamic and perspective – securing the future of the region together”, enjoyed a very good response.

The companies who form part of the ChemDelta Bavaria Initiative held a joint presentation in a “touring” exhibition at the atrium of the City Museum of Trostberg. Those who were interested had the opportunity between May 12 and on May 24 to obtain an insight into one of Bavaria’s most economically powerful regions. Says AlzChem managing director Stefan Greger: “What we are looking to do is to be continually demonstrating the significance of the chemicals industry and that of the industry’s Initiative for the region, and in the process establish an ongoing conversation and information forum. So I was very pleased that the exhibition has been well received among the population, and that we had the opportunity to welcome so many visitors.”

The exhibition provides a portrait of the chemicals industry in southern Germany. AlzChem Trostberg GmbH and BASF are part of ChemDelta Bavaria, one of the most successful technology and business locations in Germany. Erich Lackner, managing director of BASF Construction Polymers GmbH, who was representing  BASF Trostberg as deputy site coordinator at the opening of the exhibition, emphasized that the primary objective of ChemDelta Bavaria is to secure and enhance the competitiveness of the economic region in harmony with the people and environment in south-east Bavaria. Helping the people in the local area become more aware of this objective is an ongoing effort. The exhibition has made a significant contribution to this goal, says Lackner.

As companies with their roots in the region, the Trostberg-based BASF Group companies and AlzChem worked together with the museum team headed by Dr. Rainer Lihotzky and the city of Trostberg to implement the Initiative.

Local schools also took up the invitation of the Initiative, and were given specially organized guided tours of the exhibition.

The exhibition will be shown at the premises of the government of Upper Bavaria in Munich from June 11 through July 2, 2010.
