Residents wisely decide in favour of the planned EBS Power Station
Many thanks to all Trostberger citizens who – regardless of how they voted – have fulfilled their democratic responsibility. We are pleased that the majority expressed itself in favour of authorizing the setting up of the EBS power station. You have given us your approval. On this basis, we will be able to shape the industrial future of Trostberg and together look confidently into the future!
The public debate about the planned EBS power station was certainly confusing for many citizens. It was punctuated at times by anxious personal views, which were presented in simple black and white terms. The debate involved not only technical, but also economic and ecological considerations which, because of their complex nature require a detailed assessment. It is absolutely legitimate that the “BI” formulated its doubts and brought them into the political arena. It was unfortunate, however, that the rational discussion was often hijacked by the expression of emotionally based opinions.
It is all the more pleasing that despite the high emotiveness of the issue, numerous Trostberg citizens expressed themselves in favour of the project. We felt this in many discussions held not just only within the company but in the town as well. The support shown for the EBS power station by traditionally conflicting parties and interest groups, trade unions and entrepreneurs, we found both unique and encouraging. This unusual shoulder-to-shoulder stance showed us how our town of Trostberg stands united when a project that is important to the industrial future of the town is at stake. Finally, we can see the desire of the citizens of Trostberg to continue along the road of successful urban development and industrial progress, a process which has been going on for nearly a century.
Our thanks go out to you, residents of Trostberg, for giving us, the Trostberg Energy Group- AlzChem, Papierfabrik Rieger and SOTEC- the go-ahead to set into motion the planning permission procedures for the planned EPS power station, here in Trostberg.
We would like to extend an invitation to all Trostberg residents, in particular the representatives of the Citizens' Initiative and the supporters of the Citizens' Decision, to take a critically constructive look at the planning permission process. We will do our bit to regain your practical co-operation.
